This project was 28 squares or 2,800 square feet.

We did not work on the rear sunroom roof. We tore off the existing roof, installed Owens Corning synthetic underlayment, Owens Corning starter shingles and Owens Corning Duration dimensional shingles. These shingles have a 6 nail application and carry a 130 MPH wind rating.

The color of this roof is “Desert Tan”. We also installed Owens Corning hip/ridge shingles. We replaced three turbine vents and the plumbing vent pipe flashings. We also replaced 2 vent caps. In the valleys, we installed a new 18” wide galvanized metal. We replaced 2X2 galvanized drip edge. We removed the old unused cooler duct and decked over the hole it was coming through. There was a unit on the roof that needed to be disconnected and reconnected by a licensed mechanical subcontractor.

We coordinated this with our preferred subcontractor, RMS Services. We sealed all pipes and penetrations and painted them to match the color of the shingles. We pulled a city permit for this job and passed final inspection. The new roof carries a full 10 year labor warranty and 50 year material warranty. This took our crew two days to complete. On the first day, we had 6 men working from 7 AM to 5:30PM and on the second day; we had 4 men working from 7 AM to 4:15 PM.

Here is some basic information on RhinoRoof synthetic underlayment:

  1. The underlayment has a great tear resistance up to 2X stronger than other types of underlayment.
  2. There is a coating on the back that holds to the deck and a fiber-grip on the front side to help installers not slip.
  3. Can stand up to UV rays for up to 3 months if it is exposed.
