Did you know that Presidents Day was established in Congress in 1885 as a celebration of George Washington’s birthday?

It was also celebrated on February 22nd of each year as our Founding Father’s birthday was Feb. 22, 1732 and only in 1971 did the holiday change to every 3rd Monday in February with the passing of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. The reason, this act allowed for several long weekends throughout the year for American workers.
